Why unshrinkable is better than superwash

Ilfilorosso wool is unshrinkable: this means that you can wash your garment also in the washing machine, with a wool (or gentle) cycle, being sure that this characteristic prevents the natural fibre from felting.

We prefer not to use superwash treatments because it’s a chemical treatment that affects some of the beautiful characteristics of the wool: it has less memory so it tends to lose its shape more easely; it can be slippery on metal needles; it doesn’t bloom like non-superwash wool (by the way, if you work with our wool, and especially if if purchase it in cones, you will see how much it bulks up after washing!) and, last but not least, it doesn’t have the comfort and the warmth which are typical of the natural wool.

So, our choice is: unshrinkable!
